We had another successful recovery of five persons in the water in our Bay, following their yachting misadventure on Sunday, 30 May 2021, due to them activating their EPIRB and all wearing life jackets - it was a great outcome!
The Search and Rescue Incident was conducted in treacherous conditions with Strong Wind Warnings and Swells of 5 to 7 metres.
We would like to THANK Ray Worrall for assisting and using the Fisheries vessel “P.V. Lesueur” in the search, and also Marine Rescue Jurien Bay boat crew - Skipper Wayne, Eddie & Graham (with Chrissy on the radio at the tower). Marine Rescue Lancelin and Leeman Crews also arrived by road and launched at our Marina – THANK YOU Bob, Ray and all the crews.
Many thanks to our local Crayboats – “Kondios” with Lance and Laura, “Sapphire” with Jim Waters, Brett Martin and Co, our Charter Tour Operators Turquoise Safaris - Kane, and Jurien Oceanic Experience - Peter.
Big thanks to Water Police and Air support from R440 (Plane) and 651 (RAC Helicopter), to our Local Jurien Bay Police - Drew and the boys, to St John's Ambulance Jurien Bay Volunteer crews, to Shannon who sighted our last two missing yachties approximately 300 metres from shore, to Jan and Mick for their behind the scenes assistance at the Tower, and to everyone who gave or offered assistance during the day - our apologies if we have forgotten to mention any of you. Thank you to our wonderful Community for all your amazing support.
