On Sunday night, 7 December 2025, at 2120 to 2340 hours, following an EPIRB activation, our Rescue One was deployed with Mike, Chrissy, Scott and Chris onboard to retrieve three persons located 9 nm North-West in their 7.2 metre vessel.
Our crew were unable to tow their vessel back to the marina due to the rough conditions. A huge thank you to our crew for their quick response and a huge thank you also to St Johns for attending to the three rescued persons at the Marina. Well done to everyone involved!!
A reminder to all Boaties:
Check the marine weather report and ensure you and your boat are suited to the prevailing conditions. Are warnings current for your boating area? Are there weather conditions affecting safe navigation and comfort? What are the wind trends? What are the wave conditions? When is the next high and low tide?
Be aware that wind gusts can be 40% stronger and maximum waves may be twice the height of what is forecast;
Ensure you have the required safety equipment (life jackets, flares, EPIRB) for the area you intend to go;
Ensure you have sufficient fuel. Aim to carry 50 percent more fuel than you expect to use;
Log on and off with us!! Please speak clearly and hold the pressure switch down and out of the wind. Play it safe and use our services, or at least tell a relative or friend of your boating plans.
