Boating Visitors - Log on With Us!!

Welcome to all the boating visitors to our lovely Turquoise Coast.    One of our friendly Radio Operators at Marine Rescue Jurien Bay is standing by to log on your boating plans for the day!

You can call our Marine Rescue Tower, located at 34 Breakwater Drive, (down past the Marina boat ramps and car park) on VHF Radio Channel 21 or by phone – 9652 1950 – to lodge your boating plans.  We cover the area from Grey to Greenhead, including Cervantes, Sandy Cape, in fact any place within this area where a boat can be launched.   This is a FREE service!!

When logging on please speak slowly and clearly as we are writing the information into our log book.   All we need to know is:

  • your call sign,

  • number of people on board (adults, children and, yes, also the dog!),

  • how much fuel you have,

  • your destination,

  • your estimated time of return,

  • a mobile number that you are taking with you,

  • your boat Marine and Harbour number,

  • trailer and/or vehicle registration number.

Our Radio Operator will repeat the above log-on information back to you to ensure it is correct.  Please advise of any amendments.

Alternatively, you can log on through this website and complete the necessary form.   Select “Boaties” from the menu, then ”Visiting Boat Form” from the quick links panel (on the right hand side) and complete your details.  A photo of your boat can also be included to provide easy identification.  When completed don’t forget to hit “Submit” at the bottom of the screen.   If your radio is not working you can still log on with us by telephone (9652 1950), or in person.  Please be aware that your mobile may not work, or provide very poor reception, in some areas.

Extending your estimated return time or changing fishing spots:

If you are having a great day on the sea and want to change your time of return or move to another location, please let us know.  Your new information will be logged and this will assist us immensely if there is a need to rescue you.

Logging Off:

When logging off please wait for confirmation from our radio operator that you are successfully logged off.   If you do not receive confirmation, please call again.

In addition to the above, please remember to:

  • Check the marine weather report and ensure you and your boat are suited to the prevailing conditions.  Are warnings current for your boating area?   Are there weather conditions affecting safe navigation and comfort?  What are the wind trends?  What are the wave conditions?   When is the next high and low tide?

  • Be aware that wind gusts can be 40% stronger and maximum waves may be twice the height of what is forecast;

  • Ensure you have the required safety equipment (life jackets, flares, EPIRB) for the area you intend to go;

  • Ensure you have sufficient fuel (and drinking water).   Aim to carry 50 percent more fuel and water than you expect to use;

  • Log on and off with us!!   Play it safe and use our services, or at least tell a relative or friend of your boating plans.

Happy and Safe Boating Everyone from the Team at Marine Rescue Jurien Bay!!
