Maintenance Dredging Works

ATTENTION ALL SKIPPERS:

Keep a look out at Jurien Bay Boat Harbour

Skippers navigating the harbour need to stay vigilant over the next few months as 50,000 cubic metres of material is removed as part of regular maintenance dredging. The dredging campaign will improve water quality and ensure continued safe navigation, as we extend the breakwater and reconfigure the entrance of the harbour.

Maintenance Dredging Works, Jurien Bay Boat Harbour

Mariners are advised that maintenance dredging works at Jurien Bay Boat Harbour will commence Mid-November 2025 and will proceed until approximately Mid-April 2026.

Dredging operations will occur Monday to Saturday between the hours of 0700 and 1900hrs and on Sundays and public holidays between 0900 and 1900 hours.

The works are being carried out by the cutter suction dredge “Kingston” equipped with 1.2km of floating and submerged pipeline marked with yellow buoys, displaying rhythmic flashing lights. The dredge has no self-propulsion and uses anchors and spuds to move. Dredged material will be disposed offshore and the pipeline will terminate at a yellow pontoon, marked with yellow flashing light. Mariners are recommended to keep clear of the disposal point.

The dredge and connected pipeline will remain unmanned in the area of operation after normal operating hours for the duration of the works.

The dredge will exhibit shapes and lights in accordance with the Prevention of collisions at Sea Regulations 1983.

If mariners are unsure of where to safely pass the dredge vessel, they are requested to contact the operators who will be monitoring the following radio frequencies:   VHF Channel 16 & 21.

Mariners are advised to use caution when transiting the area and keep well clear of the above operations.
