We trust that everyone had an enjoyable and safe Christmas and New Year. There has been a mixed bag of weather conditions over the Christmas / New Year holiday period ranging from strong winds and 3 metre (or more) swells to delightful calm and sunny days. Hopefully all boaties have had an opportunity to get out on the water and explore our amazing coastline.
Farewell to Eddie Carnegie who has been with our Group for nearly 5 years. Thank you so much Eddie for your time and support and we all wish you and Jan all the very best for your future endeavours.

On the 2 January, vessel “Tom Reed” arrived from Perth replacing “Sardam” which is doing a tour of duty in the far north of WA. A huge thank you to Jeff Howe and Dan Goodlad from VMRWA for delivering the vessel.
At 0839 hours on Monday, 6 January, “Ocean Watch” was deployed with Mike, Chrissy, Scott and Graham to attend a vessel, with six people onboard, located 5 km north-west. The vessel was experiencing fuel problems and was towed back to the Marina. Thank you for the refreshments from the boaties and thank you to our Radio Operator Jan.
At 0840 hours on Sunday, 19 January, “Ocean Watch” was deployed with Mike, Scott and Steve onboard to attend a vessel located 2 kms south-west of Favourite Island with 5 people on board. The vessel had a flat battery and was safely towed back to the Jurien Marina.

There have been eight overdue boaties which were successfully located by radio, phone, text messages or scouting the launching carparks. Boaties: Can you please use your mobile alarm to remind yourself of your time of return back to the Marina. If you would like to extend your time of return please call us on the radio (or phone - 9652 1950).
A big shout out to our radio operators who have done an awesome job over the holiday period with boaties logging on after 0400 hrs and logging off at 1900 hrs. Please make sure we acknowledge you over the radio logging on and off. Sometimes we have log-ons by phone, 27mg radio or boaties at our tower all at the same time. Visiting Boaties are also welcome to complete a visiting boat form – available on our website or at the Marine Rescue Tower. Well done and thank you to all the boaties who have used our services over the Christmas / New Year holiday season.
