Welcome to 2026!!

We trust that everyone had an enjoyable and safe Christmas and New Year. There has been a mixed bag of weather conditions over the Christmas / New Year holiday period ranging from mainly strong winds and 3 metre (or more) swells to delightful calm and sunny days. Hopefully all boaties have had an opportunity to get out on the water and explore our amazing coastline.

A big shout out to our radio operators who have done an awesome job over the holiday period with boaties logging on after 0400 hrs and logging off at 2100 hrs. Please make sure we acknowledge you over the radio logging on and off. Visiting Boaties are also welcome to complete a visiting boat form – available on our website or at the Marine Rescue Tower.  Well done and thank you to all those boaties who have used our free services over the Christmas / New Year holiday season.

On the morning of Monday, 19 January 2026, an EPIRB was activated with Marine Rescue Leeman and Marine Rescue Jurien Bay deployed as well as the Challenger Aircraft (Perth) with assistance from Fremantle Water Police.  Our Group recovered two adults, 12 n.miles west of Jurien Bay with Skipper Scott, Chris and Chrissy onboard Rescue 1.  The two boaties were recovered safely – they were wearing their life jackets, activated their EPIRB which was secured to themselves, a container of flares and holding onto some “chilly bins” to make it easier to locate them in some sloppy conditions.  This was an excellent outcome for the boaties and their families.

If anyone comes across any fishing rods or other items, please contact Marine Rescue Jurien Bay or Marine Rescue Leeman.  Items can also be dropped off at our buildings.  Thank you to Allan at MR Leeman, radio operators, Raelene and David Percival at MR Jurien Bay, our wonderful Rescue 1 Skippers and Crew – Scott, Chris and Chrissy - A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL INVOLVED FOR A VERY SUCCESSFUL OUTCOME!!

At 1330 hours on the same day Rescue 1 was again deployed with Scott, Chris and Chrissy onboard to Boulanger Island.  A boat with two adults and three children onboard had encountered motor problems and was escorted safely back to the Jurien Bay marina.
